The GARMIN "Chirp" is a one-of-a-kind wireless beacon designed specifically for the outdoor adventures of geocaching. On the chirp there can be stored the cache-name, hints, puzzles and/or multicache coordinates. The chirp is then hidden at the cache-location.

A geocacher then, at the moment he approaches to the chirp, gets a message on his compatible GARMIN handheld*, that a cache is close-by. He can then download the stored data to his GPS*. So it is possible, to place a cache stage even at places with no or bad gps-reception (e.g. lost-places, caves, inside of buildings etc.).

When the cache-owner returns to his cache, the chirp will indicate how many visitors the cache has had in the meanwhile.
